Default Fire on Hy Bird 200

Have had this Hy Bird 200 for 6 years & never had a problem with it. While riding it this past week end, it started smoking real bad. I stopped & noticed that there was flames under the shroud toward the left front, next to the gas tank. I put it out using a bottle of water I had but it would flame back up. I disconnected the battery & it stopped flaming up.
Did not burn any wires. The part that was hot & flaming looks like a square metal part with like fins on it. Looks like a radio transformer.
Can anyone tell me what this is & where I can get a replacement. The motor will start but I don't know if that part will over heat again.
Thank you for your help,
Jerry

does it look similar to this? if so, it's the rectifier.

you'll need to replace it. of course there's always ebay, but there are some other online parts dealers if you don't have a dealer nearby.

Default FIRE on Hi Bird 200

That's it exactly. What would cause it to catch on fire? Does one size fit all?
Thank you so much

internal malfunction-it couldn't cool itself so it needs to be replaced.
