I am having some similar issues as others here.

Somtimes not fully engaging into reverse (grinding) and the same coming out of reverse and into 1st.
Clunky 1st to 2nd gear shift and somtimes it falls into neutral (really pisses me off).
Somtimes I have to really lift my whole leg and power it into 2nd.

I figure since it made it for 2 years it should be ok. Should I be worried?

 

Well the reverse issue isn't a 2001 tranny problem, the 2 gear is what is bad news in 2001 tranny, if it slips out of gear that might be wear on the shift forks from power shifting it alot. you will either hear the pieces of 2nd gear traveling through the case when it fails, and when in 2nd gear it will slip and grab slip and grab slip and grab. If you fear it is going to fail, save yourself an extra 800 bucks and fix it before it fails and ruins your bearings, scores your cylender and piston, and more good fun stuff.

 

I don't think i'm missing shifts, i'm leveraging my foot all the way up and somtimes but rarely it lands in neutral. It takes some finageling to put it into neutral when I want it in neutral so I dont understand how it could happen when i'm riding.
It has never been powershifted. When I said i have to lift my leg and power it into second, thats with the clutch disengaged.

BTW, I just put a Roll Control shifter on it and it did the same thing before. Only now its easier to shift.
