does anyone have a preference over these two. I'll be using it for jumping, sliding, possibly some mudding. I want something that will be fast enough that I won't totally get blown away by a 300ex, and still be able to go through stuff that a 4wd might go through.

I would get the lakota over the bayou because I have seen lots of lakota's go though thing's that 4x4's have gone though and they will keep up with the compation.

LAKOTA Rulzzz!!
I own a Lakota since 96 and I mod it every year!
My friend have a 300 ex and I keep it very near in trails...
My father have a 1999 Foreman 350 and I pass through the mud as he do!

my brother purchased 2 lakotas in 96 for his kids. he and I found ourselves riding the "kids" bikes quite a bit. I just bought a 2000 lakota for my wife due to my previous lakota experiences. The bike soaks up woops & small jumps with ease. It handles quite nicely, and will allow you to pitch it sideways on the trails. I would buy the lakota for the riding you describe, or spend another 400.00 and get a 300ex. good luck with your purchase!

I would say the Bayou is pure utility. The Lakota is probably one of the most sporty ATV's that still carries front and rear racks.

So in a drag race the Lakota will run with the Mojave? Just like to know my wifes quad has an IDS2 pipe on it and no racks, what does your friends have done to it. Also, I doubt any one would want to trade but, I would like to trade the red 2000 Lakota fenders for some 2000 green Mojave ones. I was planning on putting on green fenders and powder coating the the frame.
