Foot brakes vz Hand brakes

I am looking to buy a 90 for my 8 and 11 year old. Are there any significant advantages or disadvantage for foot or hand breaks?

I think the biggest advantage is to get them used to using controls that are common on 'big' ATV's. There are times, if you are out of balance or in a tough riding situation that it may be easiest to reach the foot brake over the hand brake . . . other times just the opposite. It's nice to have a choice.
