Default I used a GPS while riding today

I used my GPS today while riding it worked great..I was concered that it wouldn't work when in wooded areas, but it never lost the signal....some of the places I go there's a lot of trails and it would be easy to get lost..with the GPS you can always find your way back..and explore new trails...does anyone else use a GPS....??????

you mark the spot where you start from called a "waypoint "....then as you ride it makes the trail on the screen.. then you can follow the trail back..it shows where you are on the screen all the time..there great if you ride in areas your not to familar with...

I have a Garmin E-Trex venture and this is a great unit!!! You can get a handlebar mount that holds it really tight with no vibration. The only thing it doesn't have is on board mapping but for around 150.00 it is the best low cost unit around!
If you look at the E-Trex units there is I believe 4 different models. these are durrable water proof and very easy to use.
I got mine a year ago for geocaching www.geocaching.com and use the heck out of it!!!!

I would really look at these units

I have The Magellan Gold model..It has 16 megs of memory and can take memory cards to expand memory..It came in a package deal with Mapsend software and a cable to hook it up to the computer..I was out for about five hrs. today and it woked great...I would get a mapping GPS...then you can see the trails in relation to the roads..
I was impressed by the detail in the roads..some of the trails we use were already on it....

Definately get the best you can afford. I use the eTrex Legend by Garmin. It has mapping but only 8 meg of RAM which is actually not too bad for what I use it for.

I just bought one yesturday Magellan Sportrak PRO It's great it cost 250. with a 50. rebait. All magor high ways and roads. You can program anything on it hotels, gas ,atm's where you ride. You can down load from your PC on to it. But if you want to get side streets then you have to buy a disk for it.
