Replacing chain on 250X
#1
I suppose I'm the only one that can't figure this out but I am wondering if there is a simple way to put a new chain on my 250X. Can someone please tell me the proper procedure.
Thanks

The simple way is to take the master link apart and put the new chain on with a new master link. If it is the original chain it will have to be cut, because all OEM chains come with no master link.

The chain on my old 300ex didn't have a master link, so you just have to grind it off. Its probly easier to connect the new chain first, then slip it over the sprockets. Make sure when you first put it on that the tightener is as loose as it will go so that you will have lots of adjustment left for when it stretches out.

I just take the front spocket off and then the chain is easier to get off. You have to decide how long to cut the new one. Grind the side off the pin on the link you want to cut at. Punch out the link pin and then put it on the bike by adding in the master. Very simple once you do it!
