Ok my buddy has a 2002 Grizzley and he took it through a 5 foot so deep puddle, he just about made it when it shut off. Ok no to the problem, we pulled it out and it started right up no problems and then he put it in gear and nothing it just creeps along in all gears even reverse, you can rev it up but it just creeps. Does anyone know what the problem might be with this? Thx in advance..

 

Pull the plug below clutch cover. You will drain a bunch of water (hopefully not thick mud). If it's mud ,pull the cover, clean up and re-grease. If you pull the plug and nothing comes out you may have a clutch full of dry mud so still a good idea to pull the cover and check it out. Good luck.

Do not use the bike until it has been cleaned. Remove all drain plugs, front and rear racks/ deck lid covers, air filter box, gas tank. Drain the engine oil. Remove crank case cover # 3 to expose the v-belt and pri/sec shives. Remove shives and crank case cover # 2. Wash out the V-belt cooling ducts in front/rear with clean water, clean and dry all internal surfaces and covers. Wash out the air filter box. Dry all parts an cooling ducts with rags and a hair dryer used on cool, do not use heat as it can damage the plastic. Disassemble Primary and secondary sheaves and regrease, reassemble lower end sheaves and covers. Take off the carb enough to remove the gas bowl to clean it out. If water is in the bowl the only way to remove it all will be to do it in this manner. WD-40 works great on and in carbs to remove water and blow clean the jets. Reassemble the carb. Remove the breather hose for the cooling fan motor ond blow it clean, reinstall. Install drain plugs and new oil. Oil air filter. Drain final gear and front differential oils and change. Run the bike a few minutes and then change the oils (engine, diff, and final gear) again. Drive the bike for a minute to turn the diff, and final drive gears. Grease is cheaper than steel, so spend a few extra bucks and change them several times to be cautious. Be sure to clean any part that is dirty. I can guarentee this is the absolute minimum work that you will need to do on the bike to keep it from problems. There will be water in all of the places that I have listed to clean because it is trapped and has no place to go but damage parts. You will need to have a service manual and some special tools and/ or be crafty. If you do not possess mechaincal skill/ knowledge get some help or take it to be repaired so as not to make a bad situation worse. I just finished the same work on my 03 Grizz and it has been running fine.
