Trail Blazer...
#1
Hey guys,
Tomorrow i am going to pick up a 2001 trailblazer, the guy bought it fo his wife and she used it very little, so it went into storage, he got it out and now he wants to sell it.
I decided to buy it, it has no scratches or anything, Is there anything i need to wath out for? It has automatic tranny, will the belts burn up quikly? are these reliable quads?....this is going to be my fist polaris, And have never dealt with polaris before, any responses would be great
Shift.

Great quad. Very reliable. The 250 doesn't have enough power to wear out the belt. Great gas mileage, barely uses any oil. Had a '93 Trailboss 250 (essentially the same thing). Just sold it this year. Only replaced the belt once. Only problem was starter had to be rebuilt a couple years ago. Still had original tires, brakes, chain and sprockets. Keep it greased regularly and the chain clean and lubed and it'll last a long time.

You do not have to replace the oil injection. It is a very reliable system that has been on polaris quads and snowmobiles for 20 yrs. The only reason to remove the injector is on highly moded quads. The 250 is a solid engine. Just make sure it warms up right before you ride it expecially in the winter. In the winter NEVER ride full open throttle because it will run lean and burn a piston. That is with all 2 strokes. The main thing is just maintaining the machine. Use polaris oil, grease the zerks often and if you ride it in mud wash it afterwards. I dont know how you are with speed but the TB is not fast at all. It is one of the slowest 250's out but with some minor mods it can become very quick. Good luck with the new ride, ride safe, and if you have anymore questions there are tons of people to help.

Oh come on now 2many, "In the winter NEVER ride full open throttle because it will run lean and burn a piston. That is with all 2 strokes." That is not true at all, you just have to re-jet in the winter for the colder temps, that would be a correct statement if you didn't re-jet, but not if you do your maintenance. Congrats! Those are fun quads, real good in the snow too. We always use my buddie's to pull sleds and crap in the winter. We beat it pretty good and he hasn't had a prob with his yet. And didn't Polaris do a lot of upgrades to their machines in 01? Maybe I'm thinking of something else. Oh well havefun.
