My '95 400 Foreman 4x4 will not shift into the upper gears. I only have first, neutral and reverse. It seems like a problem with the internal linkage. Maybe a broken spring or part of the ratcheting stuff. The shop manual says you have to pull out the whole engine to remove the housing over the linkage. Anyone know the fix for this problem?

Have you checked you'r treads or does it lock up
and just not want to shift up?

The rachet is located under the front cover, you could pull the cover but there is not a lot of room to work. I would pull the engine first. Depending on your mechanical ability you should have the engine out in about 3 hours. Good Luck
