Default Mojave Questions from new member

I have a 96 mojave I bought it from my brother it has very few hours on it. I am needing to asjust the valves but need to know the valve settings intake and exhaust. It is very hard to start and will not idle but it runs very strong once it is running. I am a race finactic everything I own I have to make it faster so if anyone knows ways to make it faster without going into the engine I am all ears.

I am planning on putting a ex500 motor in it soon so that is why I am not conserned with internals.

What is the largest size jets you can run it the carb before it stars acting up?

Has anyone ever ported and polished the head out if so did it help out any? I port heads on race cars and it helps them out tremendously.

Sorry if the post is to long I am just full of questions on how to go faster.

I don't have my notes right in front of me, but I believe the valves, both intake and exhaust are to be set at .008" cold. You can buy a service manual from a Kawie dealer for like $35-40 or the clymer for like $25 and they will tell you most anything you need to know. try using the search option. Type in "mojave" "mojave parts" "mojave big bore kit"etc... you will find pages of knowledge. You can look up user "MojaveAddict" and send him a Personal Message with your questions. My opinion is he is probably the most knowledgeable Mo owner on here.

I just wanted to let you guys know I adjusted my valves that seemed to clear up some of the problems. It still will not idle at low RPMs and it seems to spit and sputter in a wheelie but I think I have to big of a primary jet in it.

Does any one know how much a KLR 250 CDI box runs in price range?
