clutch basket questions?
#1
I have a 2001 ds 650. After adding some 22 in rear knarlys I had all the traction in the world. After a few hard rides the clutch started slipping. I sanded the the scortch off the steels and reversed the order of the clutch disks and it works great. My friend with a baja has had the same thing happen to his.He has it apart and noticed that his basket had horizontal play (pulling out on the basket). I didn't notice if mine was like that, and while he has it apart he wants to know if he should replace the basket and if so how.

Once you addeda taller tire you changed gearing. Its like running a 17 tooth sprocket lauching on pavement weighing 275 pounds. YOu need to go to a15 tooth sprocket to compensate for the taller tire and install a new clucth with 60 percent spring. All this will cost around 120.00. Hope this helps.
