5 amp fuse on 650P blown
#2
My 5 amp acc fuse blew too, but it didn't
kill the rest of the power, the extra fuse that came in mine
was a 10amp. Had my GPS plugged in at the time, it doesn't draw anywhere near 5 amps. I went out and got plenty extra fuses.
No probablems since that one time

I cut the red wire coming out of the accessory fuse box and wired the end of the wire going directly to the accessory plug to the positive terminal of the starter solonoid. I put an in line mini (flat) fuse holder with a 15a fuse connected to the wire above. I also soldered and heat shrunk quick disconnect pins on the wire connections so I could disconnect and reconnect back to the orignal factory hook up at any time. This gives me the advantage of having power to the accessory plug all the time without the key needing to be on. I have a pair of Garmin Rino 120's and if I turned the key off, I had to hit a key within 30 seconds on the GPS or the unit would go dead and my track would have to start all over. The 15 amp fuse gives me a little more power ability, but the wires going to the accessory socket appeared to be 16 guage and 15 amps would over load the wiring if used at that high power for long.

i operate my mini air compressor from my accessories outlet but i had to replace the 5 amp fuse with a 7.5 amp fuse or else it would blow every time i used it. since i put a 7.5 in there it has been fine.
