Why are people comparing the Raptor to the YFZ?

I can't understand why all of the Raptor fans can't let this go. Everyone I personally know that owns a Raptor is bad-talking that YFZ..I hear alot of " There's no way my 660 will be beat by a 450" or " I think they are ugly & stupid looking" & " What, no reverse.....see my Raptor is better" I really don't blame them for saying those things especially after just buying a new Raptor....I mean 4 years is a long time to pay for something. There is NO comarison between the 2. Not trying to ruffle anyones feathers, but they are 2 completley different types of quads. The Raptor is a "Sport Quad"..which is nice for the dunes...woods...play riding in the desert or whatever. The YFZ is the 1st "Race" quad to be produced since the Quadracer & Fourtrax 250R. I think the majority of us don't race as much as we play ride with our buddies so for all you Raptor guys out there...don't worry about how fast or cool the new YFZ is...just go out & ride & have fun.

I have not read any of the threads about the new quad because I know no one has first hand knowledge so the posts are just chatter. lol. But.....Raptor720 told me he got to play with it and it seems to be a duplicate of the 250R frame, has the 450 motor, new gearbox, Raptor type plastic. He said it was superior to the Raptor. The Raptor just has more cc's and I am definatly a fan of MORE CC's!!!YES!!! lol.

Personally, I was a bike guy before I got my Raptor, I think that 450 is the best engine to go into a quad frame yet, To me it will be the qaud to beat at the track and most anywhere, as long as they didn't screw something up! But I think Yamaha learned its lesson in 2001

I really don't think that the Raptor is all that bad. I'm even thinking of buying an '04. Whenever I take my son out with his Honda 90 Fourtrax & I'm on my Banshee it's a struggle for me to put around with him on this small loop that we run. I'll try to ride slow...but then my Banshee will start to load up or overheat because of the slow speeds. I have a 2002 YZ 426F also, but that wouldn't be good either. That's why I think a Raptor would be better for me than the YFZ..cause I never claimed to be any kind of a quad racing guy! I race Vet motocross on my bike & do pretty well, but you gotta be nuts to race a quad!!!! Also, the prices have dropped on the Raptors too...should be easy to get a sweet deal on one.

They compare because it's the new kid on the block. i've yet to read a forum post thats a negative about the 450 from a raptor owner. The people I know aren't saying negative things about the 450 either. I'm a fan of no reverese on this quad myself.

Well I won't bash it, I just wish I could afford to have one sitting next to my Raptor But I can't so I will just keep dreaming...

As a Raptor owner, I applaud Yamaha for making a Hi performance 450. I'd love to have one. I'm not planning to trade my Rappy for one but I'm sure it's gonna be a great machine. If I could afford one I'd have one on the trailer everytime the Raptor went out. Heck who knows maybe it would even see more seat time than my Rappy...
