Default Buying Advice

Hi

Im faced with a descion on buying a ATV and I am looking for some input

Here are my Options

1995 Honda 300 4X4 New Winch and Tires bike is in very good shape overall

1999 Yamaha grizzly 600 Works good stuck in 4wd some selenoid or Motor is gone
plastic is rough but mechanically seems sound tires about 70% worn but the price reflects the condition ie same price
as the honda 300 about 4000mi on it but has new top end in it

2001 Honda 450S Nice ATV plastic is not as bad as the grizz but not perfect no cracks or repairs. Tires about 50% decent bike but at the limit of what I could spend. High Mileage about 4000 mi originall top end etc but doesnt smoke or anything.

Type of riding
Mostly muding and off road no fire roads also for some chores around the house ie snow removal etc.
Would like to take my wife with me
My wife and I arent the smallest people in the world either if this helps

Any ideas id like to make my decicion soon before my wife changes her mind on me jk <lol>

Thanks
JT

By "rough" plastic what do you mean, is it cracked?? Cause if it is only svratched up or a bit worn, that is going to happen going through the bush or anything like that, not that I am a pro at this atv stuff, but personally I would go woth the 600, just cause of the power (you say you and your wife arent that small) but I would find out exactly why it is stuck in 4wd, and what it would cost to fix, cause 2wd is better for gas milage. I think the 300 will be way to small for you 2, and my second choice would be the 450, 4000 mi isnt that bad, my friend has a 660 grizz 2002 and he has 4000 on it, runs good. Hope this helps.

I'd go with the Foreman. It sounds like it has the least wrong with it. I'd be slightly concerned that the 300 was rebuilt. But if everything was done correctly and the price is right then it might be alright. The Grizz would be starting out with problems and you don't need that. ATV parts are expensive and the dealers try to squeeze every cent out of you that they can. I'd go with the one with the least problems.

Hi all

You guys are the best I think I made my desicion

I think im going to go with the 2001 450S manual shift

Iwent and looked at two 450 ES today a 98 and a 00 the 00 was in good shape but more than the 01 I had originally looked at
the 98 was cheap but dead battery tires 90% worn all the brakes were bad etc etc and the ES system didnt shift right owner said because battery was dead? Overall I prefer the manual shift

The grizz would be nice but I think ill stick to honda guy selling it said reason it wont shift out of 4wd is it needs a selenoid which is like 3-500$ needs a headlight and the front rack is bent also plastic was cracked and PO had it plastic welded.

Thanks
JT

Just a thought. The 2002 Honda Foreman 450S and up have selectable 2x4 to 4x4.

The older Foreman's are fulltime.

The Honda Fourtrax 300 4x4 is a good quad. Are you going to put a 424 on it? How do you like it so far? Good luck with your new purchase.
