Default Sabotage on the forums?

How many of you think that sabotage is being carried out on this forum? (This forum and others) I'm writing about the false threads that are posted to make products appear less reliable. I'm not writing about any specific brand because I think all brands are vulnerable. It seems like alot of negative threads are posted by a newer member with only a few post and then their never heard from again. (These post may be written by anyone including people in the atv industry.) So do you think this occurs and how often?

Haven't seen much on the product side; yet probably have not reviewed enough of them to say.

What I 'have' seen............... is a lot of censorship when it comes to protecting the less intelligent members of our sport.

We've got guys running websites who preach all day long about 'safety'..........but then get all bent out of shape when you question the fact that they throw their wife or daughter up on the quad with them! Heck, one guy threw me off a site because he'd already admitted that his father was afraid to ride 'lead'........so he forces his daughter to be put in the same position in a near collision WITH HIM!!!......"those darn careless riders!".
And it's not the fact that these people are just plain ignorant (we've got 'those' coming out of the woodwork)........but all the people around them that are plum afraid to say anything!

Others are so die-hard "AMA"(translation 'ATVA')............ that questioning ANYTHING that they or this national organization has to say about our sport, or what they believe in..........will get you kicked off even faster.

Some of these webmasters are more interested in getting 10 butt stupid people and their 'hits'..............than upsetting any ONE of them over their contribution towards ruining our sport on a daily basis.

You find very few people in this day and age who will stand up for even the 'simplest' of principles.................. or just realize that this sport has a lot of garbage to take out as it gets generated on these forums.

Default Sabotage on the forums?

When I saw the title of this thread I thought it might pertain to some folks who spammed the forum earlier (and who are history now).

The post wasn't what I thought it was about but I'll share my thoughts for whatever they're worth. To me the key on any discussion is to ask for facts and overlook opinions with support backing their statement.

In other words, lets say some person says "brand xyz ATV is junk." And lets say that's all he says about it. Well, that tidbit doesn't help anyone. These are the folks you have to pin down and ask them to justify why they feel the way they do. Based on what they then say, you can usually tell pretty quickly if they know what they are talking about or not. If they give solid reasons backing up their opinion, then perhaps they do know what they are talking about. Then we all learn something or at least have more information to consider.

What it comes down to is if you have good common sense....you can see through the BS that someone is saying.

I truly do not believe anyone is intentionally falsely saying things. I think there are a lot of people in the world who don't know any better. And the fact that some of those people are on the forums is truly a credit to them. It means they are trying to learn the facts and to become more knowledgable about the sport. The important thing is if their heart is in the right place. If they're just out to make trouble...none of us has time for that.

Very interesting thought though, Coyote!

I've had a few dealers say not to believe what you read on the internet. I've had a few people at dealerships comment that it would be better not to seek information on the internet. (I also know you can't always believe the people in dealerships.) They said these things after I asked about problems with certain quads. An example of this would be the problems with the Suzuki Z400. (frame and rear axle) Although I have initially read about the problems with the Z's axle in a magazine. I wonder if people from other atv companies would over exaggerate problems (on the forums) with the competitions quads to improve their sales? It seems like sometimes a person will come on and list all kinds of problems with an atv and (only having a couple post) then it doesn't seem like they post after that. Some of the problems just seem so far fetched and aren't normally mentioned day to day. Although I do realize that most are legitimate. Some post seem false. The people that say that a certain atv is junk are alot easier to separate from those who act like they have a legitamate problem that may have never occured. Kinda a brand bashing.

The darn dealerships are the absolute last ones to trust. They tend to know the least and lie the most when it comes to thier product.

I researched the V Force on this site for two months. The things that I read helped me in many ways. I can tell you that 99% of the info on the V Force (technical issues, not opinions) have been right on. The forums are invaluable because where else can you interface with people from all over the world and get honest evauations instead of spin and bull*** from a dealer who would lie to his mother for a nickel.

I don't buy the conspiracy theory myself. Just take each post for what it is worth. Some are great and some blow goats.
