Need info on Sand Mountain Nevada

It is a great place to ride but since you have been to Little Sahara UT and ST.A's I think you would be pretty disapointed. Hate to say it but it is true. Alot of the guys that ride there have never ventured farther east yet. We have been trying to get them to. if you combined the trip to go to lets, say the Oregon dunes as well then it would be worth it. Are you thinking DS Days?

No, I mean I'd love to do DS-days, but I've already traveled enough this summer for the gift of ride, so I'm now planning next year's trip. I'll be hitting Silver Lake MI later this summer, its only 5 hours away, but other than that no more dunes 'til next May. I'm going to Walden Colorado, and from there on to probably Little Sahara Utah again because I really loved it an saw nowhere near all of it.
Maybe the year after, I'll do Nevada and Oregon - I plan to hit them all eventually!

If your going to come here for Wladon ( I have no idea why you would drive that far for that lil place) then go to LS UT, you will probably be on I-80 going west. Stop off in Rock Spings Wy for a day of riding at the Killpecker sand dunes. They are alot bigger then Waldon and worth a day of riding.

Hightower...
I've only been to Sand Mountain, Nevada for one 3-day trip this past Spring, so take this for what it's worth. The mountain itself is huge with an incredibly large area for riding, considering that it's just one massive sand dune. This, of course, is where most of the people were spending their time when I was there. However, I and my riding buddies ventured out away from the mountain to the surrounding areas and we found quite a bit of good riding there as well.
If you're only interested in hill climbing, then you might be disappointed with Sand Mountain for an extended stay. Don't get me wrong though, the hill climbing there is great and quite challenging. It just gets a little redundant after a while. But if you're into sand trail riding as well, you'll find a good deal of interesting terrain to explore. Anyway, wherever you wind up going, have fun!

Oh yeah, sand trails is what I really want, hill shotting is great fun, but there's way more to riding than that. I want terrain to explore, large areas to cover. I'll give nevada a visit, that's good news. i was hoping it was more than just one mountain, even though I know I would enjoy the mountain.
As for Walden - we love tree shoots, and from the pictures I've seen it has it. And its beautiful country from what I've seen. But I also know I wouldn't drive there for it alone, and its on the way to Little Sahara so I plan to stop off their for a day or two next trip west. Rock Springs is also among our agenda.

well if you have time you could hit sand mountain then head into oregon on hwy 31 i think and hit christmas valley for a day not the best but a sand place all the same it has it's moments and if trails is what you want it's worth a day. then go over the hill to florence, probably about 5 hours, then you ride florence then head south to winchester , then a little farther to coosbay those three areas are about a hour apart. they have trails to ride plus trails with hills plus then you can get up early and hit the beach and try and find some japan glass floats maybe that is a local thing but a cool find if your lucky. that would be 5 riding areas in about 8 days but you would probably want more time there. well i know this doesn't help but it is a few areas. and i could meet up with your group and check out things with your group. well your plans should be easy with this many choices.
