Default Need help purging air from oil system

I've just got done putting my 727 in my Rappy, and I can't get it to prime the oil pump. Anyone have any suggestions?

When we put Sam's together we dumped a qt. of oil in the engine with the intake rocker cover off and put the other qt. in the tank. Did you remove the screw in the cam cover/plug on the right side of the engine and crank it over with the spark plug out?

Yes, I pulled out the plug in the head. No oil coming out. I also filled the oil filter with oil. And if I loosen the line from the engine, the one on the bottom by the shift lever, oil does come out there. It also spits oil out the dipstick hole while cranking. Any other ideas?

I assume that you did put oil directly into the engine and no just the tank. Is it a new pump? I sometimes use vasilene to prime the pump if it may be sitting a while before starting otherwise just a little EOS, but that doesn't help you now unless you take the pump out.
A bladder tank or even an air tank may be even just an air hose is needed to pressurize and prime the system and then spin the engine over after doing that. If your not getting oil after that something is wrong.

I pulled the intake valve cap off and poured a 1/2 quart in there. That did the trick. She starting pumping oil out the screw at that point. Thank's for your help.
