Why would he trade you for a stock exhaust? My guess is because the power gain wasnt near worth the Noise. The increase in power (varies) wouldnt be worth the increase in attention you will get on a noisy quad. Also riding a loud quad on a long trail rides gets annoying and even tiring. Id stick with the stock, get the filter and jet kit though. Want more power...get a cam and better piston.

The power gain on the DG is ok. You can run less disks to quiet it down a little if you want. If you do a lot of jumps and hard riding, the DG's don't seem to hold up, the welds and everything break, but for just normal high spirited riding I think they work ok. You could always buy another stock pipe pretty cheap if you don't like it.

I should have my DG alloy installed within the next few days. I can let you know what I think of the pipe.

I say go for it! I have done the mods you listed and I am very happy with the results! Keeping in mind that I am 200 lbs I can now pull a wheelie in 3rd gear where it would not before. and that is with the reduced torque of a 14 tooth front sprocket. Also the DG is alot lighter than stock. You may have to re-jet one size richer on you main though I have not done this and the tip of my plug has some white color to it. The pipe is louder than stock but not that bad, it is about as loud as a two stroke. Also If you want to get another stock exhaust I have seen them on E-Bay with bids around 50 bucks. I hope I have helped and good luck! TATER

Yeah, i have a Dg alloy, yeah its loud, very loud. I like the noise, but a lot of people dont. No offense to Dg, but i think it was kinda a waste of money. It bends and flexes where the head pipe meets the muffler. Anyone who knows metal knows that a steel head pipe, put on a aluminum silencer will completely destroy the aluminum, and this happens with riding thats not even that hard. The set could definitely use a clamp for the seal between the header and silencer. It could also use thicker aluminum too. And i dont think the 300ex model can even be bought with a spark aresstor, i know i certainly couldnt find one. I suppose its an okay choice for the money, but i woulda saved my money and bought something better if i had of known this is what i would get. But be your own man, live and learn.
