Default What is this? 300ex question again

When checking thing about My CDI BOX, I found that there were 2 black box. I figured out that which one was the cdi box. The other is called the INHIBITOR UNIT. REVERSE. I checked this on Service Honda
Look in the Wire Harness category, Item #8. What is this INHIBITOR UNIT. REVERSE. used for?

Thanks a lot

It is the reverse rev limit. It has the green plugs on it vs. the CDI has the clear. They use the same type of plug though.

Yes it's the one with green plug. So It's the reverse rev limiter. Can it be damaged?

I have never seen one go bad. Are you having trouble with it? If so, it is probably your coil. I have seen a few go bad on 300ex's. Do you have a service manual?

Take your coil off. The backside probably looks melted. Like I said, I have seen 300ex's with bad coils. They short out and melt. The secondaries is actually what go bad so if you measure across the prongs, it will read good. Measure the resistance from the plug wire to each prong. This is usually what is shorted.

Ok, I checked the coil. .I checked the resistance. I don't really how a multimeter works
because I'm 15. Here what happened. When I put it on 200 Ohms, It give me a big one. same thing on 2K ohms. When I put it on 200K Ohms, I read a 3. On 20M Ohms, I read a 0. What's up with that coil? When I use the conductivity beeping mode (beeps when it conducts), It doesn't do like normally ( Read 0 and beeps), it reads 1386-1387 and it doesn't beeps. normally when it don't conduct, it just read a big 1. What's UP? Thanks

Hey, TheQuadSport...do you have any pictures of your 300EX? I would like to see it..I may be buying a 1996 300EX with a 396 big bore kit with some mods and I was just wondering what they look like...or do they look the same as the others...just a different color plastic?
