Question on cleaning my air filter

The manual says I need to wash it in oil or kerosene then let it air dry.
My dealer told me to wash it with soap and water and ring it out.
How should I clean my air filter?? Thanks!

clean it in the soap'n'water, then use the oil, it helps it catch the dust

the dealer will also sell a cleaner that should be sitting on the rack right next to the oils. These are the best for cleaning. I use cleaner on mine and it does a great job.
