Default Questions for 250 EX owners

I'm thinking about buying my wife a 250 EX, how gut less are these quads? She had a Blaster but couldn't grasp the concept of using the clutch so I think that this might be a great quad for her, does any here have one and if so can you tell me a bit about it, like how reliable are they, how fast do they go and, have you had any problems with them? No flamers please I'm serious. Thank you.

Not gutless. They make good torque for a 230 cc engine. Not much top end, though. Maybe 50 mph depending on elevation, jetting, etc. They are a little narrow, but well suspended for average trail riding. Jumping (landing, really) is hard on the 250ex. Very reliable and troublefree. I'd look @ the Suzuki Z250 before I bought an EX, it seems to be a step up from the EX in power, suspension and eye candy factor. Both have auto clutch manual transmissions. We've been well pleased with our EX, my wife is a cautious rider on it, I'm a little looser with it.

Default Questions for 250 EX owners

my mom bought my bro a 250 EX and it's worked great. my friend rode it and he's as good on a quad as i am and he had no trouble keeping up. compared to even a 300 EX it feels gutless, but it's more than fast enough for someone who doesn't jump, or ride ***** out all the time.

It is a great bike, for its intended audience! I did do a K&N, FMF MegaMax slip-on, and vented airbox lid which helps the power. The suspension gets squeaky after a while though. In stock form, the bike is a little pushy (understears) in turns and it is a bit tippy. A switch to Holeshot tires on ITP rims (widens the bike 2" in front and 3" in rear) cured both those problems very nicely. It is my daughters old bike. Right now I use it for friends who come along camping, but I am keeping it around for when my son outgrows his 90.

Default Questions for 250 EX owners

Thanks guys, my wife wouldn't be doing any jumping with it, just ridding at the dunes and some trail riding in the woods, I know it's nothing in the way of speed like my Banshee but she's super cautious when she rides any way and doesn't need the speed or power of any thing fast, how does this bike pair up with the blaster in way of power? she liked the blaster but kept killing it trying to put it in gear.
Thank you guys for the input.

for trails my wife loves it. but she almost ready for something alittle faster cause she likes the speed. I'm thinking of getting her a v-force and giving the 250ex to my daughter(9). but for now she follows us anywhere we go and with honda rep. it's a better buy than the suzuki. I enjoy hopping on it and climbing anything in it's way.

Best advice I can give you is to do a search on this website and view previous
discussions, they're pretty helpful. I love my 250EX but I'm giving it to my
wife and upgrading.

They're very low maintenance and have decent pep. If you're wife is taller
than 5'8" she might be cramped a little.

My wife really likes ours, she prefers riding it over the Recon.I really don't think you'll find her complaining about it being gutless. After "riding the Blaster & having trouble with the clutch",I'll bet your wife will love riding the 250EX(very simple & easy to ride)

Reconranger, can you give us a little more info on the the holeshots & ITP rims(size)sounds like a great way to widen the stance.

Derrick
