Banshee running out of gas?
#1
As some of you already know, I have a 96 banshee with LRD adjustable pipes and an LRD jet kit with 30 intermediate and 290 main jets. I rode about 30 miles today (elevation=500 ft) and noticed a few problems.
1) It doesn't seem very crisp from off idle.
2) When really winding it out in lower gears (1st or 2nd), it will lose power just for a split second when shifted into the next higher gear.
3) It seems to not pull all the way through 5th and just goes flat or bogs when it gets into 6th gear.
Am I running out of fuel in the bowls, or does it sound like my jets are too small? I'm running with my airbox lid off. I'm running my airscrews about 1 1/2 turn out as suggested by LRD.
Any help is appreciated.

That engine needs lots of available gas.
If you put a fuel filter in line (the stocker doesn't have a filter, only a screen in the fuel petcock), take it out and see if the problem continues.
If the problem resolves itself, you need a larger capacity fuel filter.
Another option would be to tune the carbuerator in like Steve10 has described in an earlier Thread.
Go to the top of this page and click on Search. Put Steve10 in the User Name Search box.
Look at the many times he explains how to tune a carburator to correct problems such as yours. Being pretty knolwedgable about this stuf myself, I cwill tell you he is dead-on when it comes to fixing these problems. Use his advice and I am confident your problems will go away!
Print Steve10 Threads and take them with you when you begin wrenchin' on your Banshee. They are a great resource! In fact, I would then put the printed copy in your owner's manual for future reference!
Good Luck!
