Am I ready for a banshee?
Hey all, I'm 15 years old and I don't know if I should get a banshee or not. I am 5'10" and 210 lbs (I know it's a lot lol) and right now I have a junk arctic cat 450 utility quad, and I think it's way too slow and way too big. I've only been riding this since about 6 months ago, and I want something new to ride. I REALLY want a banshee, and I think I can handle a bone stock one. Because I'm a big person, I can control it easier. I just want to know what you guys think. I DO NOT want a blaster, and I ONLY want a Yamaha banshee. Thank you *EDIT: Is it true that you ALWAYS have to go fast on a banshee becausd it's a 2 stroke?

Control has less to do with physical size than knowledge and experience. Plenty of smaller ladies out there that kick butt on the Banshee or other high performance machines.
I have never ridden a stock Banshee. That would be a rare unicorn these days. Depending on how they are modified, they can be a real handful and not really for an inexperienced rider. Another factor is reliability. Are you handy with tools? I have owned and been around these for years, they all can be finicky and need a little extra tlc.
They are the worst for riding slow. A big 2 stroke hit really hampers them in technical situations. They don't need to be ridden at war speed all the time either though. The pipes and porting are the biggest factors here.
Bottomline, my 16 y/o isn't quite ready for the keys to my race quads, nor would he be riding a Banshee if I still had one. That doesn't mean ALL kids your age couldn't handle one though. Ultimately it needs to be your parents decision. You can always have a ton of fun on a 400 class sporty, and upgrade in a year or two when you have more experience. The Banshee will be around for you down the road.
