87 250x wont start!!!

Default 87 250x wont start!!!

I bought a 1987 250x off of my friend that said it wouldnt start one day. and it sat for a year. I checked to see if it had spark and it does. but kinda sparks on the side of the plug whats hould the gap be at? and what else can I do i keep kicking and kicking and nothing if i put carb cleaner then the plug in it sorta kicks over...

the spark plug could be the problem, even though you say it still sparks. this happened to me too and it was just the spark plug.

If the machine has sat for a long period of time...it wouldn't hurt to drain all the gas...and fill it up with a fresh tank of gas too. If you feel like being energetic, go ahead and clean the carb. If you're planning to keep the machine, invest in a shop manual. It will tell you the spark plug gap, and everything else you should ever need to know. Those 250X's are bullet proof...chances are it just needs minimal amounts of tender loving care.
