250x is a great choice i have 2 of them an 87 and a 91 i paid $1000 for the 87 which need axle bearings and swing arm bearings everything elese on the bike was solid. The 91 i pais $1800 for its mint the guy i bought it from had the plastics wrapped in clear plastic when he bought it new from the dealer. 87 250x are ranging from 1500-2300 and 91-92s are ranging from 1800-2800
You should check to see if the axle is tight and swing arm bearings are ok also check the air filter if it is really dirty it probably means the owner did not change it frequently i clen my filter before every run and change the oil every 4 days of ridin. also check the oil for color if it is real black also means that the bike was not properly taken care of. change your oil alot you will not have to spend alot getting the motor fixed at the dealership

I went and looked at a 250X today.
What a POS! It was totally trashed.
It was a 92, he wanted 1,800(i thought it was a steal till i seen it)
The back brakes were shot, the transmission would just kick into gear if you reved it up, the front bumper was tore off.
But! the damn thing would run! He let me take it through his yard. I nailed it in the drive way. It popped a really good wheelie and i barely gave it any gas.
I can't wait till i find one in good shape!
