I have been away from riding motorcycles & atv's for quite a few years. I got my start on 2 stroke bikes.....owned several from 50-250cc.....had a couple of road bikes.......3 wheelers were cool, owned a few of them too, bought a mojave 250 for the wife and hated it. I now only have a few bikes for my kids. They each have a 4 wheeler (honda trx 70 and a quadsport80) and they both have 50cc bikes. Now the wife and I need bikes to ride.

I was never impresssed with the mojave (poor power, bad air filter location, difficult starting, nice suspension). I once test road a warrior and thought it was gutless. I think I will but the wife a Recon, but what about me? I need enough power to wheelie, slide, jump and run with some fast bikes.......yet I need to idle when riding with the kids. I think a 4 stroke would be best, but the 400ex and ds 650 are way too pricey for what they offer. I think the warrior and 300ex are also overpriced.

I guess the question is this........which of these 4 bikes would you buy? The 400ex @ $5500 the ds650 @ $6800 the ex300 @ $4700 or the warrior @ $4800.

am I missing any major players in the sport quad market?

thanx in advance for any help you might offer.

Well, you left out Polaris. I don't know if that was intentional,(in other words you already know Polaris is a piece of ****).But I'm sure someone will set you straight here shortly,as to what great quads polaris produces.

For the riding you describe don't forget the Polaris Scrambler 400 and 500s. These are pretty impressive sport machines. They are the fastest 4x4s out there.

The machines you list are great machines but remember that reverse may be required when trail riding with the wife or the boys.

You are best to disregard just about anything Sledder has to say about Polaris. From what I can see he had some bad experience in his childhood and hasn't gotten over it yet. Polaris offers some pretty awesome machines with features that the other manufacturers are slowly adopting.

well if you think that warrior is too pricey you will definatly think the scrambler is too pricey. I think that in this day in age reverse is very important, for the life of me I can't imagine why Polaris put reverse in it yet. Bombadier came out w/ a nice machine this year I think it's their first so I would wait until the bugs have been run out of it. I believe the it is a 650, I honestly don't know anything about it but it looks really fast.
If i were you you I would look into Honda's new 400ex or what ever that fast machine is that Honda makes. HEHE Well good luck and let us know how everything turns out.
P.S If you have been away from bikes for awhile I would take my time getting back into the swing of things. I have seen some experienced riders get hurt real bad doing crazy stunts

thanx for the input.
I did leave out the polaris on purpose. You see, since I started out with 2 stroke bikes, I can't ride without banging gears. It is just part of the fun for me. While polaris makes a great snow machine and fine atv's, the automatic "snowmobile" tranny is not what I desire in an atv.

I do wish the honda 400 had reverse, as was stated above, reverse can be useful while riding with the family. But, since I started with dirt bikes & 3wheelers, reverse is NOT mandatory. As a mater of fact, the mojave I bought for my wife was the only machine I have ever owned with reverse.

all of this being said, I guess I am in the market for a honda 400ex......
thanx for all the help

Hey sledder, I bet if you wish real hard and you are real good Santa will bring you that Polaris you seem to be so jealous of. Whats the deal your Dad won't let you ride his or what. Don't worry you will grow up soon enough then you can get a job and buy your own Polaris.
