Old Trail Boss Suspension
#1
I'm new here, so if this ? has been answered before, forgive me. I've got an '86 Trail Boss, the front A-arms have been worn out and loose for a while, but not so much that it can't be ridden. But recently the rear end is gettin loose too. When you turn to the left it sounds like the front sprocket or chain is grinding against something. Is there anyway to fix this without putting a lot of money into this old thing? Its not that great of a 'wheeler, but too good to junk.
Thanks for any help,
RW
My other ride is a 425 magnum

sounds like your swingarm bushings are worn out. your gonna have to replace them and if you have been riding it like this for a while then mostr likly a chain to. pull your chain off and hold it side ways put some pressurew on it so it bends. if it bends even a little bit in the way to make a smiley face then your gonna have to replace it.

Not Too good of a wheeler? i almost take that as an insult!
But really, most likely its either your chain, or your drive belt. Make sure to also check the front sprocket, that went bad first on mind (85 Trail Boss) The chain should Run you about $40 if you buy a polaris chain, the sprockets sell for about $20 and $30. THe drive belt was $25 also (in that area) i bet that thing makes your mag look like grandma's machine

Thanks for your replies. I looked in my EPI catalog and they don't have bushings for an '86. Is '87 the year they started building them with greaseable bushings? I suppose if I tore it apart maybe a machinist could make me some bushings??
Hermz, I meant that compared to the new Magnums and Sportsmans, its not that good. It was a damn good machine in 1986.
