Default Starter problem? small ATV (90cc)

I have a sundiro 90cc quad('2000). I thought battery was dead. got new battery and still won't turn over. sometimes just a buzzing sound, sometimes turns over barely once. Bike starts easily with foot crank.
I took out starter and shaft turns no problem, when i put power to it.
Is it still the starter, that maybe does not work when under a load? or is it deeper?
thanks for your input.

ALSO, the bike doesn't idle as good as it used to. It may be from not enough use. Kids do it up for a few days the hardly touch it for a few weeks. was stored away from last sept til about mid June. just seems like gummed up cabs or something.
I hear of othe small atvs having same problems, like the polaris, are these the same quads? what should i clean & how ?
can email me detailed instructions if too long for forum.
thanks,

You have a bad starter. You can take it apart and clean it and put it back together. Sometimes that works but it is easier to just get another.

i thought that was it. I thought it would last longer than it did. these little quads leave a lot to be desired in terms of quality. $1,800 - $2,500 should get ya a decent toy these days but I seen all makes have more problems than they should.
i'll try taking the starter apart. thanks for the help

If you want to increase the life of the starter, simply replace the battery cables with home-built 6-8 gauge wire. The wire is available, with connector ends from any stereo shop or autoparts store. The starter is overworked with the small gauge wire. The larger gauge wire will reduce the heat stress on the starter motor and the starter will actually turn the engine over faster.

Also, if your starter has gone bad, it is a good idea to also replace the starter relay. High resistance in the relay can cause a new starter motor to fail early.

That wouldn't be the carb that was beat with the hammer so much (to clear the dirt out of the circuits) that the main body was cracked away?
