DS650 Rear Brakes
#1
Has anyone had any problems with their rear brakes on the 650. I just picked up a 2000 last week and you pratically have to stand on the brake pedal to get the things to work. I see the manual says they are self adjusting and there is plenty of pad left on them. So is there any ideas of what i can do to correct the problem. Thanks.

Mine is a 2000 with the original brakes...I can lock the back wheels anytime with a simple press of the foot..No need to force down on it.
Brake fluid level is okay?? (Little reservoir on the right side of the airbox...
Have you checked for damage or looseness(excessive) in the caliper??

It has plenty of brake fluid and i even bleed them to make sure there was no air in the system. The caliper doesn't seem to be overly loose or anything.
You can get them to lock up but it comes with a lot of effort.
Thanks for the response.

Not to worry, I have the solution! Check to see if the master cylinder plunger rod is stuck. Sometimes when you wash the bike or run through streams etc. etc. the master cylider rod will kind of get stuck. The best way to keep this from happening is to keep it lubed with some silicone spray or O-ring approved spray. Not to worry, I lost my rear brake completely, looking back, it was right after submerging the beast up to the carb
Let us know how it works out.
Good Luck and ride safe
