Do you have to adjust valves more often w/ Stage 1?
#1
I am thinking about getting a Hot Cams Stage One for my Raptor and was just wondering if you have to adjust the valves more often with them due to the higher lift and longer duration. Also, where have you found the best prices and will I be able to feel a gain in an otherwise stock motor? Will I have to rejet? How many bikes will I gain in a drag race? Thanks for any replies.

Well i just wanted one thing too,but it dident happen that way,i thought to just get the cam or the piston but i heard over and over again that i would want the cam or piston after i bought one of them,so i went and did the whole thing,i love the power and the all around usable power,it rips and i can go to the drags and win about 85% of the races..
when you do any motor work i would check the valves every 10 to 20 even with out mods just to keep the bike running sharp..I gained about 5 bike lenths on anything that has a pipe or a jet kit, stock bike i dont even waste my gas..
you will fill some power and a diffrence but that bike with the piston or whatever you dont have will beat you everytime and maybe a bike with a pipe and jet kit going to hand it to you. you will want more power after a few rides..JMO

I am not going to go over 10:1 on my piston when I get one since lower compression works best with nitrous. So would I really feel a difference going from 9.2:1 to 10:1? Does anyone even make a 10:1 comp forged stock bore piston for the Raptor? I plan on having my head ported by Craycraft, Robertson, or some other place down the road, so I was thinking just put the cam in now, then put the new piston in when I take the head off. I know I won't stay happy with the power, but I want to be able to keep going with little stuff than jump to a big bore all at once, that way I will be happier longer, I think. What are the valve clearances for the Stage One? Thanks again for the info.
