Is a triple big bore possible? Does anyone make a pipe that is not a sidepipe for that mod?

Be a little more clear on what you are calling a tripple big bore. I'm not real sure what your asking. I have seen h2 tripple motors in banshee frames, with tuck in pipes that looked just like toomeys. These engines are really made for drag racing though, and its not too common to see this. Are you talking about the banshee tripples, or kawaski conversions or......? Be a little more specific.

a H2 is a kawasaki 750 street bike engine. Its a two stroke, and was one of the fastest road racers of all time. They also made 500's and some smaller ones also. The third cylnder set up on the banshee is pretty much a hillshooter set up. I'm sure you can get some custom pipes made for it that will tuck in, but why? The motor would probably come apart if you used it for anyhting but sand racing, and it will probably still come apart. Those engines cost about $9k to build also. They seem to be an interesting project, but I dont think they are really a feasable real world engine. Just stuff a kawi inside of there.

Louie Swan, Whiteknuckle Racing, and two other guys I know of have welded another cylinder onto a Banshee engine. Twister Cranks(Mr. Swan's outfit) makes the cranks and they use Polaris ignitions, probably an XLT, to fire it. They are extremely fast, and are getting the bugs worked out. The potential of these motors is great.

I've seen one sitting on the bench at JSD Racings shop and I was actually suprised how well done it could be done. Your foot tucks in behind the stator cover and there's plently of room.

Pipes are an issue. I don't think that you could do it any other way than with drag pipes. Currently you can buy drag pipes that two exit one side and then buy a regular for the extra cylinder. I simply don't think that there is room for the expansion chambers to tuck up into the frame.

You're kinda defeating the purpose by doing that as well. These motors were created by some of "us" crazy duners who are always looking for that edge or the next fastest machine, and then to try to run "tamer" pipes with it...you've spent a wheelbarrow load of cash to get a fast motor, then to only keep it on a leash.

well I could go take a little ride on swannies triple, I will have to do that sometime. How much performance is lost through tuckin pipes compared to drag pipes?

On a typical banshee engine, drag pipes usually make about 8hp more than a toomey. This is what i have seen first hand on the dyno. with the extra cylinder, I would say even more hp would be lost, maybe as much as 12. But you do loose some low end with drag pipes. CPI is now making an inframe drag pipe, and I have seen them in person make almost 2/10 of a second difference in 300ft over the toomey. Personly, if I am going big, I would spend the money on a rotax conversion and the pipes come straight out the back, so you dont have pipes sticking out everywhere.

Is that like the cannondale? I think that would be even better, but is there enough room for the carbs and air filters?
Is there a rotax webpage? I would like to have a drag/racer that doesnt have sidepipes, I just dont like them.

You may want to order a back issue of the August 1999 4-Wheel ATV Action. Inside you will find(starting on page 17) an article on such a CRITTER! It was a joint effort between Fastech and Twister Crankshafts. The motor weighs ONLY 22 lbs. more than stock, displaces 517cc, and on ALCOHOL makes 130HP! I would love to HEAR IT!!!

If you really want a mean motor, check out this one!! It is a Rotax top end grafted to a banshee tranny, 720cc!! It is done by K&T Performance in Utah, they build the baddest machines around.
