First Rotax Conversion
#4
Thtanks for the info. I knew that all of them built conversions, but I didnt know who actually came up with the idea. I have heard some good stuff about JD but have enver seen any of their motors run. I have some friends who are on the waiting list for the monoblock. WOW, 3.77 on a monoblock! I didnt think they would be that fast. I figured 4.0's would be the best possible, though you did say nitro! I prefer more reliable set ups. I have used nitro and prefer not too. How big was that monoblock that ran the 3.77? My close friend is building one that is going to be the stock bore, with a 7mm stroke, 490 maybe??? We have lots of classes down here to run in, so i stick with the modifieds and watch the open class! There is more money in the modifieds than the open anyhow. Maybe only 10 bikes in the open, but possibly 40 in the modified. And, I like to make more than one race with my engine.

Kim Munchmore and Dave Barber from Dab racing did the first skidoo to banshee conversion, it was a joint effort, read the Monster of the Dunes article in the summer 96 issue of SandSports magazine, it actually says Dave Barber came up the the hairball idea of grafting a snowmobile motor to a banshee tranny. Dave built the first motor in my banshee, it hauled ***, Kim built my motors after that.
