small issue on '94 sportsman 400 4x4

Default small issue on '94 sportsman 400 4x4

i have a '94 sportsman 400 4x4 i....well my dad took it through a little too much water. this got us water in the starter. well my dad being a mechanic waits three years to mess with it. so i get a reman. starter put in and new spark plug etc. the normal, it starts.. but now the tricky part MY TRANNY IS STUCK IN REVERSE!!!!! got any ideas as to why this happened or how to fix it???? thnx for any advice

Default small issue on '94 sportsman 400 4x4

First take the shifter a part and clean it up and put in new oil.If it still wont go out of reverse drain the tranny oil and fill it with WD40 and let it set a day or so drain it out and see if it will shift.

i uhh drained tranny oil put fresh oil in and now......she goes to the shop monday cuz she's grinding sumthin. i hosed the bad boy out with like 3 or 4 cans of brake clean b4 putting new oil in and it just keeps pulling metal out of it. but thnx for the help it finally made my dad break and take it in. w00t w00t
