Oil questions on 2005 sportsman 90
I got a 2005 50th anniversary Polaris sportsman 90 over a week ago that I am fully restoring and going to resell. While I was taking the engine apart, I saw an oil tank I guess? It was underneath the seat. But, I also saw under the engine a drain bolt. I removed the drain bolt and a caramel colored liquid came pouring out. I'm not sure what it was at all. Which one of these is the oil? And I thought that on 2 strokes that you just mix the oil with the gas tank... Please help!

You drained the gear case oil...Fill cap is right above at the top. Doesn't hold much, around 10 ounces per the manual. The factory had a thick 80/90 wt gear oil (too thick imo) but the manual calls for Polaris AGL or equivalent for the gear case. The oil tank under the seat is for 2 stroke injector oil for the engine. Entirely different oil that doesn't have to be changed, just topped off.

NO oil in the gas tank.. The oil tank holds the 2 stroke oil that's injected into the carburetor then into the engine with the gas. Should be a small black injector hose leading from the carb down under the plastic cover on the right hand side to the oil pump unless someones removed it.
