G'day Tina.
Sorry to hear you have joined the exclusive cracked frame club. I've counted over 20 now.
Polaris will cover it, I'd like to know how many they have done now.
Sadly the new frame is unchanged so guess what is going to happen.
As I said when mine happened, it is inevitable that it will happen to most of the others. Hopefully they have spare frames now. I waited 4 weeks.
Good luck from down under, Geoff.

Im going to make a copy of this and send one to Polaris and give my dealer the other copy. This is going to effect MX season and I hope it doesnt effect my flattrack season. Ill give updates ony what I find out. Thanks for your reply Geoff. Other than the frame Geoff, hows that Predator runnin alll in all,Im still VERY pleased with the Predator and still have no regrets....As long as Polaris keeps there customers happy with upholding to there warrenty......Tina

Can any of you guys post the before pictures (cracked frame) and after (for those people who fixed it themsleves). Many of the frames are fine (like mine), but I may want to reinforce it and be proactive to the problem. Let me see some pictures! Thanks.

Yeah, mine cracked in the same place just last week. I'm going to get some pics posted this next week of the before and after. I used a wire welder to reseal the crack, then welded some 3/16" straps from the gas tank mount to the frame to take the weight and absorption away from the cracks. It will make it more difficult to remove the tank mounting, but I didn't have time to wait for a new frame!! And I did some testing and the new mod worked great, so I will prob. just leave it and maybe trade off after the first of the year!

I had one crack also, in fact I just had it replaced two weeks ago. They did let me repair the original frame so I wouldn't be without a quad. It was in early june when I found the crack and it took about 3-4 weeks to get the new frame. My dealer was pretty cool about it, they gave me the new frame and I did some gusseting in the front shock mount area and around the rear gas tank mount. I went ahead and painted the new frame red before they switched the frames. They also were really good about getting it done when it was convenient for me. Basically I picked up the frame and he said do what ever you see fit to it and call me when you want it switched. In fact they even had it done 3 days before I needed quad back.
My build date is late october, I do race MX, and Polaris did replace it under warrenty.
I am very happy with the way Polaris handles warrenty issues...I've had 6 ball joints, the 3 airbox mount brackets, slide in the carb, and a frame all replaced under warrenty without any hassles what so ever.

2004 Frames are welded and not bolted like our 03's behind the tank and the transmission has been updated with stronger shift forks and maybe drilled gears? Sorry I forget for sure if they are drilled. Plastic is stronger and better and of course the new standard hubs, 9 inch wheels and shorter swing arm.
