Somebody had just told me that there is a big push to ban ATVs from the national forests, is this true and does anybody know who is pushing for this?

The national forest director was asking for input of a new policy on the use of National Forest. The ATV Connection website had a link posted if you desire to read it. You can also go out to any of the national forest websites and view it also. The Wayne National Forest website had it. Go to www.fs.fed.us/r9/wayne/. The key player right now that ATVer's need to worry about is Al Gore. I am not sure who is actually behind this current push, but Al Gore and Bruce Babbit (Secretary of the Interior) are both enviro *****. There probably (my opinion only) will not be any serious action on any National Forest use issue this year as it is an election year, but I'd stake my reputation on the fact that if Gore gets elected, the only ATV's that will be allowed in the National Forest will be pedal powered.

Above all else, register to vote. Al Gore and the liberal tree huggers have gone far enough.

After posting my last post, I went out to the AMA site and read their commentary on this issue. I also went out to the National Forest website and read some of the information that is there. The official political version on the website is hard to understand and make sense out of what the proposal is. The AMA version is definitely better. The issue is that the National Forest service wants to stop building and maintaining roads in certain parts of the forest. The AMA contends that this will lead to eventual trail closings in these areas. It is definitely worth going out and reading at both these websites. Also, vist Lurch's website (hopefully he will post a reply to this also) as he has some good links for this type of information. Ride on.

Register to vote. The only way to stop the liberal thugs.

Feds ruined more land in the Los Alamos fiasco than all the atvs in the world could do damage on designated trails

Yes its all true Sparke, The clinton Gore plan is to take large treks of national forests and close them off to all use by first closing many many forest roads and planting them over. Then it will be easy to actually keep us all out of all those forests which is the 2nd. part of there plan.

Be aware sparke, that right here in minnesota there is a group started up called: MRR they call them selves minnesotans for responsible recreation. This name is deceptive as their main goal is to drastically limit atv use in minnesota.
