Default Semi mechanical ? for a Sp 700

I had to take my Sp 700 to get the transmission linkage fixed because it was frozen in gear. Water had gotten around an O ring and caused the linkage to rust. Anyway, it is fixed now and I was wondering this 1) When the mechanic fixed it (shifts better than new) the P and H override switch (the one attached to the rear brake) no longer has to be depressed to get into these gears. 2) Does it hurt anything because of this? It worked before I took it in so I was just wondering. I am thinking about taking the thing apart myself just to see how it works. It cost $110 bucks to get this fixed and that was with no new parts. They just took the old ones out and bead blasted them, greased them and put them back.

binding happens sometimes, just depends on the articulation. if your twisted real good, then i would expect the quad to be stubborn.

This could be an accident waiting to happen with the safety function not working. In the thick of a tight spot you could end up in any gear. I would go back and talk to the mechanic and he will either tell you how to fix it or fix it for you at no charge providing that was part of the original malfunction.
