I need help with creating street legal quad
#1
In the October 03 issue of Dirt Wheels, there is a story about a guy who made his Raptor street legal by making a new swing arm which accomodates only one wheel, making it a reverse three wheeler. The story says that in most states it can be done due to the loop hole created by the law allowing three wheeled motorcycles. If anyone can provide me information on completing a mod like this I would appreciate it. While the guy in the story commutes on his daily, I am only interested in being street legal so that I can re-join my old dual sport club and again ride with the guys. Why didn't I keep my dual sport you ask? Try riding a 350 pound motorcycle in the Florida dirt (SAND), not pretty! Thanks for anyone who can help me with info on this project!!!!!

i have a june 2000 issue of "4-wheel atv action" that has a street legal warrior in it. the owner of the warrior had something called an mquad street conversion kit on it. they tested it by driving around the california coast, the owner was from oregon. i searched for the kit on google with no success. the kit had two options a basic and a "boulevard cruiser kit" the basic was $572 and the "cruiser" was $1785.
they listed the makers contact info in the article:

It depends where you live all states are different. For instance I live in Arizona and the Department of Motor Vehicle is pretty lax here. They require you have a rear view mirror, headlight, brake, liscence and running lights. Oh, and don't forget their 125.00 a year fee and mandatory liability insurance (which is cheap). Check with your local DMV they will have all of the info.

im 14 and was thinking about making my racing blaster street legal after i stat racing the yfz. So if anyone contacts the dmv in JERSEY post what dey said about it. i was thinking that all they would want all the legal junk and it has to have the speed to keep up. well mine breaks 80 and there is no speed limit greater than dat.
or should i just get a streetbike like every1 eles

LOL...The easiest way to make your existing quad street legal is just to move to Arizona. Out here in the wild west, all you need is a mirror, tail light, horn, plate, registration and insurance. You even get an RV plate when you purchase your ATV at any dealer, regardless of what it is. I've seen a number of quads on the roads - sport quads and utes. There's a Banshee and Raptor in the Phoenix area, that rides on the hwy's regularly. I saw a street-legal Banshee for sale in the Arizona CycleTrader - the guy says he drives past cops and waves.

Save yourself the trouble and buy a car. This road quad idea has been floating around since the early eighties and all the examples that have been made turned out to be less than favorable comprimises . remember the stupid indy quad death machine.
