With the do it yourself, do you just get the kick starter parts off of a yz450f? If this does work anybody have a guess how much it costs?
Thanks

Got the the yamaha site and look in the parts catalog under motorcycles/2003/YZ450F/starter. You'll need everything there - both assemblies and the other little parts shown.

I went to the site and got the print out of all the parts, but do you use the yz450f kick starter, or the banshee kick starter? Not the banshee kick starter kit, just the kick starter itself? The yz450f kick starter just seems really big for a quad.
Thanks for the info!

How much did it cost you? Did you get the YZ stator cover or do you still have the plug in the starter hole?
I'm gonna research the costs - I paid for all the parts as part of the deal w/ the bike.

Yes. I still have the plug in the starter gear cover - fits fine. The cases on the YFZ and YZ are not of the same mold. They both have/require different covers from what I've been able to determine.

It is the kicker arm from a YZ450. I know it's long, but I also new it would fit the splines on the shaft. Once I have the new pipe on, I'm going to need to trim the plastic a little - that's OK.

Default YFZ 450 kickstarter?

A buddy of mine put the yzf kickstart on his yfz and used a kickstart lever off of a yz 250 dirtbike, its shorter than the yzf lever. He had to have a bushing machined because the hole in the yz 250 kickstart lever is larger than the post that it fits on.

No kick start for me I prefer the button.
