I just bought a 01' recon and am brand new to the atv world. I have a problem with the gas tank, when it is in the ON pos it will not run but it is fine on the reserve tank. I am not the most mechanically inclined person but I can do a little. Any suggestions on where to start with this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try filling the gas tank up all the way.

 

The ON and RESERVE are just 2 inlets with different heights. ON is higher, and RESERVE is lower. You probably have someting clogging the ON inlet. Pull the hose off the carb and drain the tank. Then, with the valve in the ON position, blow air back up the line to try to dislodge the blockage.

It would be best to remove the tank from the bike, and rinse it a few times to get the crud out, or it will probably just clog again. Just remove the plastic around the tank, and you will see a couple of bolts holding it in. It's a good idea to rinse you tank periodically anyway.
