Default Oil light on??

OK, here's what I did. Last night I changed the oil & filter. I restarted the machine and the light went out after a few seconds. No trouble. Tonight, I went riding and did apprx. 8-10 miles, no problem. I go to the car wash and wash the machine. I reloaded it and once it's loaded the light came on. I checked the oil level, it as at the bottom of the two markings. I added about 1/2 of oil to be sure it has plenty and it still is on. I then go through the bleeding procedure twice and the light is still on. Any suggestions anyone? Oh yeah, it's an '04 Baja X.

You got water on the oil pressure switch.... take the rubber seal off and pull off the wire and let it dry out over night and it should be fine.....

my oil pressure sensor failed, but it had the opposite symptom - the red light would never come on, whether the motor was running or not. I replaced it and keep a spare in my tool box as well.

I like the red light better than a gauge, the red beacon will grab my attention easier and faster than a needle that has moved.

Well hightower when you lose oil pressure and that light doesn't come on don't come on here crying when you lose your Crank Bearings.

so are you like posting that on every brand forum, quads and bikes alike, since about 99% of every mcahine out there on the dunes or in the trails doesn't have an oil pressure gauge?
we all post our opinions so everyone can sort though and find what suits them, but for some reason you always feel the need to consistently post sarcasm. Why are you always so angry little baja boy? hey I aint worried about it, I'm smiling right now typing this , just curious is all....

If you feel comfortable relying on the idiot light, as Hightower suggested, definately get a spare as that thing will burn out and after you replaced the transmission you'll want to put a new light in place and maybe it save your **** the next time. Unlike the more expensive dune buggys/sand rails that all run oil pressure gauges the manufactures of most ATVs and dirtbikes figure with the low price we purchase them at replacing the tranny components would be an inconvenience at most...LOL!

If you are considering that an oil pressure guage might be a viable option check out this THREAD

I don't mean to come across harsh Hightower. I just am trying to help people on here by educating them on things that have happened on DS'S in the past. That oil pressure light does not come on until there is 7 pSI of oil pressure, if you are haulin butt up a dune racing someone at 7500 rpm and that red light barely comes on that you can see it. IT IS TOO LATE!!!! You may as well break out the tools and pocket book because you are going to replace the Rod and crank bearings. The Idiot light is a joke and the Autometer Liquid filled gauge is the best investment I have ever made on my quad. Between my ESR Water Temp Gauge and the Oil Pressure gauge it is a hell of a lot better to spend a $150.00 than a Thousand I alway's say.
