Default DS clutch lever wires?

Just made some much needed repairs on my new (used) 2000 ds650. I found a set of wires that aparently went to the factory clutch lever. My clutch lever was aparently busted off in a flip, and replaced and the wires are just twisted together and taped up.

Question: What are the wires for? I assume they go to the CDI box and adjust timing for better shifting? Just a guess.

Any ideas?

The wires are an engine safety kill setup. If you start your engine in gear you have to pull in the clutch too start it
