Im in need of some new tires on my 300 4x4, I was wanting to go to a bigger size for ground clearence. Could I pull 25s and 26s with it? its all stock. Will they clear my fenders? I was thinking of blackwaters, but maybe Maxxis Rubicons, I dont ride in very deep mud during the summer but during the winter I do, so i need an intermediate tire.

Thumper~

I have blackwaters on my 300. Yes, they clear the front and rear fenders, IF you don't have a heavy load on the front racks. They will touch just a slight bit on the rod that goes from the chasis to support the front fenders ONLY, and it occurs when you turn with a heavy load (~ 60 - 100 lbs +) on the front racks. If you just push the rods that support the front fenders back and tighten the screw on the chasis, you'll be fine. Overall, they are a good set of tires, since I have blown out several OEM tires (I've only had ONE flat in 2 years - that was a nail in the tire).
As far as the other tires, I don't know...
Hope this helps and good luck

muddman did you have to put a lift on your bike to fit the 26" tires? did you keep the stock 11" rims or did you get after market 12"? i just bought a 300 4x4 for my wife and i am looking for a set of good mud/trail riding tire.
thanks

No, I do not have a lift kit on my 300. I have 25" front and 26" rear with after market 12" rims. They are awesome for both terrains: mud or just trailriding, and it will add a HUGE difference on the stability of the 300 (that is w/o the lift kit), something that your wife may want...

To bring this to a conclusion, here are the advantages and disadvantages of hard set of blackwaters I've experienced:

Advantages:
(1) More stablity
(2) Long lasting tires
(3) Increased ground clearance of approx. 2 - 3"
(4) Can be lighter than OEMS, if you buy correct gear

Disadvantages:
(1) Rougher ride
(2) A wee bit tougher to steer and will be more sensitive to hits
(3) Robs a little power

Good luck and hope this helps... Talk to your wife and ask her what she wants (a majority of women who ride for leisure like the extra stability of the harder tires). RIDE ON and ride smart ;-)

P.S. Do some shopping on those tires; the kit cost me 500 bucks and maybe you could find a better deal (try local dealer(s), Higherlifter.com, other atv part dealer(s)). Click on my link under 1993 TRX 300 and you will see pics of the 300 with the blackwaters.
