400ex gearing
#1
I have a quick question. I ride an 00 400 all stock basicly. I live in michigan and do a ton of trail riding and make a few trips a year to Sliver Lake. Well this year was my first time out there with paddles and they make a huge difference. However now I have a small problem. With the additional traction the paddles give I find that I am having some power problems. For example those of you that know Sliver Lake, on test hill I find that I am out of the power band at the top in third gear, and have to drop down to second. Third gear was never a problem before with the stock tires, granted its easier to climb the hills. But because of the extra traction of paddles you need more power or something to make up the difference. To get back to my question. I am running stock gearing and was thinking of changing it some, just wanted to know what gearing some of you are running and how do you like. Any help would be great.

2 teeth up front is way to much. Maybe one down in the front but probably 2 up in the rear. 39 or 40 would do I think. Front sprockets are $15 or so and rears are like $40 so that could be a factor
