Default question for yfz owners?

I'm assuming every yfz's suspension is set up the same from the factory. My question is how much can you soften up the ride on the y's ?? It pretty harsh from the factory, I am considering purchasing one but I would like it to be a little more comfy on my bony rear end.

I have another ? How often does yamaha recommend a service job? Suzuki says every 3months with a valve job also. At $140 each time.
