Hey guys just to get some percentages.......How many of ya'll actually still have the original 01' gears in your Raptor? Also list things you have done to them(mod wise) I'm curious to see if theres any link between the gears crapping out, and the guys who have made pretty substantial engine mods. Now before some of you guys go nuts about how your bone stock motor ate the gears see my point of view. I know some of the guys on here had bone stock bikes, and they blew out, but I'm curious to see if the percentage of guys with modified motors is substantially higher? It makes sense enough to me that if you have a weak transmission design to begin with, and then start making the motor pump out significantly higher compression ratios and horsepower that it would only add extra stress to an already weak design. Agreed? So basically heres a thread for you guys to say what you have done to your rides, and vent anger about what you were doing when you gears went ca-put......

Still have the original gears. Only mods are the ones in my sig.

 

All stock virgin 01 Raptor [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] except for the oil, no Yamaha stuff in my crankcase or oil tank.

Although I don't drag race that much anymore, I sure fly through the gears on the track. Still kickin, warranty runs out in april, she will probably go **** up in may.

 

i know plenty of people on here still run the stock gears.

and I would say the day after your warrenty goes dead....the tranny will fly into a million piece's. lol.

 

I'm running a 58RWHP 686 on the stock '01 gears. No troubles yet, I make sure I've locked into 2nd before launches and feather the clutch into reverse. The less bang and grind the better! I've eaten a couple clutches but no gears yet.

 

Exactly what I do as well 45. My plans are for a white bros, or Yosh exhaust(slip-on) and 11:1 piston over the winter. Hoping for the best. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]
