i just bought my z 2 weeks ago and put about 14 hours on it but now the engine keeps stahling and while im downshifting from any gear it stahls then will take a while to start back up. i took it to a certified suzuki dealer where i bought it they said it was a pinched line on the gas cap. so they straightend it and it still idled badly they tried adjusting the idle but still didnt help.when i went to go rideagain it stahled constently. it is now bak in the shop for inspection and diagnosis anyone have neproblems like this or know why this may be? any help wil due thanks.

 

not sure, but check your gas lines, gas filter, and air filter. hope you get in running soon.

 

I have a somewhat new Z400 (11 months). Just recently it started to have a difficult time starting or running at an idle (without the choke). I found to problem to be a clogged pilot jet. Once I cleaned the jet it was as good as new.

 

thanks for the imput i just got it back from the dealer the problem was dirt and debri in the carb and the jet they cleaned it out and works great now!

 

i had the same problem and i bought an inline fuel filter so i would not have that happen again. they only cost like 2 bucks so it will definietly pay for itself.

 

nice tip tryin to hard, hey what exactly were the symptoms while the carb was in need of a cleaning? could you gas it at all?

no i wasnt able to use the throttle at all after it started up it would just stahl. but now i think i need to get a filter so i dont take it in every 14 hours. thanks for the advice [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]
