raptor problems after rebuilt engine need help!!!

Hey ok we replaced the valves, and piston. got everything all in there engine put back together everything toqued how the book said. the engine wont start. does not sound like a vlave timing problem,.. sounds more like a fuel problem. it has been sitting for 5 months b4 i started working on it so could something be junked up in the carbs? if so anything i need to watch out for when cleaning and removing the carbs.. the only carb i have worked on is a blaster.. what do you guys think is the problem... our battery was just about dead so it was being jumped by a diesal f-250 no lid no filter sounded like it was flooding... or maybe not enough fuel? so we turned the fuel off and started spraying stator fluid... still nothing same thing... we think it was flooded though or a fuel problem. does anyone have any ideas on whats wrong or what we need to do.. it was started and idelded for about 15-20 seconds then when we hit the throttle it just went blep. it does try and start. you will hear it turn over alot and you can hear some ignition sometimes.. not all the time though any ideas????

Sound like the carbs aren't letting fuel into the bowls. Pull the carbs and check for the needle valves being stuck and just make sure everthing is clean. Don't use any more starting fluid. Pull the plug and see if its wet or not. then you will know if your jetting any fuel or too much. Sorry I should of put this first.

First things first check for spark at the plug and while you have the plug out run a compression check. Running a compression check will tell you if the valves are at least closing. As far as the carb goes you should carefully take it apart and give it a good cleaning regardless after a rebuild it is just cheap insurance that the bike will run right when it is done. The bike should at least start without the filter on but it will be very lean. Good Luck!!!

yes we have spark.. but i did not check for compression that will be something ill do 2morrow if it is to low then the valves are not closing all of the way correct? are the raptor carbs mcuh more difficult to fiddle with than the blaster?

Not really a carb is a carb. The Raptor is just a little harder to get to.
