Thumb vs. Twist
#4
My thumbs love the twist. I ride dunes. After long rides with the thumb, it starts to hurt. You can ride longer with the twist. But as mentioned, wheelies are harder, and you could easily get too fast on the whoops, especially with a slick seat cover!

I put a twist throttle on my Grizzly that I bought last year. Then I got rid of that piece of junk and bought a 400EX, for the first few months the thumb throttle seemed okay, then I started having thumb pain again, so its back to a twist throttle again for me.

Strange... must be because I'm used to thumb throttles, but I can ride all day long without getting any fatigue in my thumb. I feel like I have way better throttle control with the thumb. Twist throttle is scary for me. Also, most twist throttles seem to have almost a half-turn from closed-to-open, which means if your riding pretty wide open, you have to either grab it with your wrist way cocked to begin with or get a new grab after you get going. I definitely like the thumb better. The ONLY complaint I've heard about them is "my thumb gets tired", and that becomes a non-issue after riding a few months (from my experience).

i agree with motorhead
i can go all day without my thumb starting to hurt. I also have been riding a fourwheeler with a thumb throttle for 11 years. so i am used to it.
i am probably going to get a twist throttle thou on my 400ex. I will probably race it so that is y i want a twist throttle.
