What items should I be concerned with when buying a used ATV.

I'm looking at a used Sportsman 500 that has 1000 miles. Is that alot for a used Quad? How many miles can I expect to put on a 500 over its lifetime - I know that's a loaded question, but 1000 miles seems like alot for a 2000 model year...
Any suggestions on what specifically I should look for on a used quad? What are things that typically fail at the 1000 mile mark? (sorry for the dumb questions, total novice here...) Anything particular about suspension, tires, drive train, etc... that I need to check out?
Thanks a bunch!

I was at an Arctic Dealer in Tremonton, Ut. yesterday and the manager said that a customer of his owns a ranch and had over 25,000 miles on the vehicle! He did not believe them untile they brought the machines in because the oil plug had been stripped. They were putting over 100 miles a day on their machines. He also sold them a 500 4x4 this year and it already has over 6K miles. I know that Honda has a great reputation for longevity. I would think that you will be just fine.
Good luck
